The Department of Nephrology commenced operations in December 2007, with Dr. Basant Kr. Sharma, M.D., DNB (Nephro), as full-time Senior Consultant Nephrologist, with daily OPD (except Sunday). 

We treat all kidney ailments and provide Haemodialysis treatment under his direct supervision. 

We do over 800 dialysis treatments per month. 

SSHRI is the first Hospital in Dibrugarh to have started dialysis under a full-time Consultant Nephrologist, and is the only Dialysis Unit in the region to have physically distanced Positive Patient & Negative Patient procedure rooms.

Our +ve Unit is set up for 5 simultaneous dialysis treatments, and our -ve Unit is set up for 20 simultaneous dialysis treatments, making us one of the largest capacity Dialysis Treatment Centres in the North East. We are a 24x7 centre. A new RO water purification unit has also been established to keep up with the upgraded standards of SSHRI’s Nephrology Department.

Central Cannulations (for permanent dialysis access) were started by us in this region, and we have done the maximum number of the same. We have also done the maximum number of Kidney Biopsies in the region.

The AV Fistula procedure is completely in-house at SSHRI, and we are the pioneers of the same in this region.

Our entire dialysis process is wholly in-house and end-to-end, with no requirement to visit other centres / healthcare providers for any related processes or procedures.

SSHRI has a brand new, state-of-the-art Haemodialysis unit (opened on 14th October 2019). With two separate and isolated units for Positive & Negative patients, the brand-new unit is designed to provide the best quality dialysis in the region. Our unit operates 16 machines, with expansion room for more. A new RO water purification unit has also been established to keep up with the upgraded standards of SSHRI’s Nephrology Department. We are proud to mention that our’s is the only unit in the entire town to have a full-time Consultant Nephrologist, a practice we have maintained since 2007. 

With approximately 950 dialysis per month, we are one of the leading providers of haemodialysis in the entire North-East. 

We also have facilities for Kidney Biopsy, Central Venous Access, A. V. Fistula surgery.

The Urology department commenced operations in March 2005. Dr. Tridiv Gogoi, M.S., experienced uro-surgeon, is SSHRI’s full time consultant urologist. The department provides treatment and care for patients suffering from various kidney diseases, and Dr. Gogoi regularly conducts OTs for kidney-stones with laser technology (kidney, ureter, bladder), as well as OTs for kidney and prostate related problems.

Dr. Gogoi has OPD every day.

The Cardiology Department commenced operations in September 2012. Dr. Jayanta Dutta, PGDCC (AMCH), is our full time consultant clinical cardiologist for treatment of patients suffering from various heart diseases, with OPD every day. 

The development of Oncology in the North East has been one of the core aspirations in SSHRI’s journey over the years. In June 2004, we started Oncology at our Hospital with technical assistance from the Asian Institute of Oncology, Mumbai. World-renowned Senior Medical Oncologist, Padmashri Prof. Dr. S. H. Advani (Director - Dept. of Medical Oncology, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai) visited and treated more than 3000 cancer patients from all over Assam and the N.E. Region, at our Hospital. 

Currently, Consultant Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Saharia, MS, trained in onco-surgery, is providing full-time treatment and chemotherapy care to patients. Additionally, Senior Medical Oncologists from various prestigious institutions of the country work with us as visiting consultants.

The department of Gastroenterology commenced in December 2005. Currently, Dr. Pankaj Singh, MD, DM (Gastro) from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, is a visiting Consultant to our hospital. He visits once in two months for all types of procedures and treatment.
